A New Chapter for the Mid-Am Racing Series

After multiple unforgettable seasons, the Mid-Am Racing Series is entering a new era.

Effective immediately, ownership of the Mid-Am Racing Series has officially transferred from Tim Scrogham and Cheryl Hryn to Josh and Kerrie Nelms.

While ownership may be changing, the mission of Mid-Am remains the same: providing affordable, competitive racing while preserving one of the Midwest's longest-running touring series.

Looking Back

When I purchased the Mid-Am Racing Series at the end of the 2020 season, I knew I wasn't simply buying a race series I was accepting the responsibility of carrying forward a tradition that had existed for decades.

The goal was never to reinvent Mid-Am. It was to protect what made it special while finding ways to help it grow.

Over the past five seasons, we've visited incredible racetracks, watched first-time winners celebrate career-defining victories, crowned champions, welcomed new competitors, and built friendships that extend far beyond the racetrack.

None of that happens because of one person.

It happens because hundreds of people—drivers, crews, officials, promoters, sponsors, volunteers, photographers, announcers, families, and fans—choose to invest their time and passion into grassroots racing.

For that, I will always be grateful.

Why Now?

Every organization benefits from fresh ideas and fresh energy.

Selling Mid-Am wasn't an easy decision, but it was the right one.

Life has a way of changing priorities. With our first child expected later this year, Cheryl and I knew it was time to slow down, spend more time with family, and allow someone else the opportunity to guide Mid-Am into its next chapter.

Josh and Kerrie Nelms are passionate racers who care deeply about the sport, and I have every confidence they'll continue building on everything that makes Mid-Am unique.

A Smooth Transition

Although ownership has changed, this isn't an overnight goodbye.

Cheryl and I will continue working behind the scenes throughout the remainder of the season to ensure a smooth transition. Whether it's the website, points, administrative work, or answering questions, we'll be there to help however we can until the new ownership team is comfortable taking over each responsibility.

Our goal is simple: leave Mid-Am in a better position than we found it. Cheryl and Kevin will likely stay on as I reduce my schedule.

You are the reason this series has endured for so many years.

I also want to personally thank Cheryl Hryn.

Much of what she accomplished happened quietly behind the scenes. Her organization, dedication, and countless hours made my job easier and helped make Mid-Am stronger than ever.

Looking Ahead

As excited as I am to step back, I'm equally excited to watch what's next.

Josh and Kerrie inherit a strong foundation, an incredible group of competitors, and one of the best racing communities anywhere.

I hope you'll welcome them with the same support you gave Cheryl and me.

Finally, thank you to everyone who trusted me to lead this series over the past five seasons.

It has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

I hope that, in some small way, I was able to leave Mid-Am better than I found it.
