Dan Calhoun Rebounds to Win Brand Construction 50 at Slinger

SLINGER, Wis. — Dan Calhoun worked his way through a chaotic field and executed a late-race pass to capture the Mid-Am Racing Series Brand Construction 50 victory at Slinger Super Speedway. The triumph marks Calhoun's second feature win of the season.The day began with fast-paced qualifying session, where Kenny Richards set the bar early by laying down the fastest lap of time trials with a 12.56-second run. The top 14 were separated by .21. Heat race action saw Scotty Gardner and Cody Clubb pick up victories in their respective qualifier races. Gardner, Clubb, Marqus Hoover, and Rick Redig-Tackman all earned transfer spots directly into the main event. In the heat races, Mark Sontag Jr. took the checkered flag in the odd heat, while Kellen Arnold claimed the win in the even heat. Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ), saw Andrew Meyerhofer, Connor Kosowski, and Clint Evans fight their way into the feature grid. Phil Speciale, Jim Thorson, Josh Fehrmann, and Greg Beebe were awarded provisionals, completing the 25-car starting field. When the green flag dropped for the main event, front-row starters Brady Held and Brandon Tackes led the pack into Turn 1. Held seized the early advantage, opening up a comfortable lead over the field. Meanwhile, Calhoun—who started 7th after a strong qualifying run—began methodically working his way toward the front. Multiple caution periods reshuffled the running order and eliminated several top contenders throughout the mid-race laps. Following a mid-race restart, Calhoun closed the gap on the leader and completed the winning pass on Lap 35 to take control of the race. One final caution bunched up the field late in the distance, setting up a high-stakes restart with Calhoun at the point, followed by Jeremiah Senko, fast-qualifier Richards, Kevin Murphy, and Clay Curts. Calhoun launched cleanly on the final restart and led the remaining laps under green flag conditions to secure the victory.
